Carl Spitzwegwas born in 1785 and died eighty years later in Munich. He belongs to the most famous artists of the Biedermeier (early Victorian) era and of the German Romanticism movement in Germany. His artworks are different from those of other artists, because he included satire within each work and he would take a humorous look into life in the middle class. He was not interested in painting landscapes or portraits. He preferred to combine realism, fancy and humour in his artwork.
