Fall of the Berlin Wall

30 years ago, on the 09th November 1989, the Berlin wall was opened, marking the beginning of the end of Germany’s division and leading the way to its reunification. The day was celebrated in Berlin with various events, speeches, attractions and commemoration ceremonies. Although the fall of the Berlin wall and Germany’s reunification is celebrated and of importance for German history, the success of the process is still highly debated, as many claim that no reunification has taken place but that the German Republic simply took over the East.
